We are delighted to welcome David Robson back to Miami Life Center after his inspiring workshop in February 2015. Join us for a full week of Ashtanga yoga with a David’s new full length workshop, followed by Kino’s 3 day weekend. 6-days of practice with David Robson to include morning Led or Mysore-style classes and 4 afternoons devoted to in-depth workshops exploring Ashtanga’s asanas, technique and philosophy.

Sat 7:30-9:30AM – Led Primary
Sat 1-3PM – workshop: The Philosophy and Practice of Vinyasa
Vinyasa means moving/breathing system. The heat produced by practicing vinyasa can purify not only our bodies, but also our minds. Learn the correct technique and application of the vinyasa system for optimal results in the Ashtanga practice. This workshop is not a lecture- come prepared to work.

Sun 6-8AM – Mysore
Sun 2-4PM – workshop: Perfecting the Fundamental Asanas
Take a deep and detailed look at the alignment and actions of Ashtanga’s opening sequence. Study the exact vinyasas that connect each of the postures, and learn ways to deepen the work and progression of your daily practice.

Mon AM – Moon Day – no practice
Mon 3-5PM – workshop: Pain-Free Backbends Backbends don’t have to hurt. This workshop will explore the basic alignment and actions of Ashtanga’s Primary & Intermediate Series backbends. By learning correct technique for the poses, take the pain out of backbending and allow your body to safely go deeper into the postures.

Tues 8-10AM – Mysore

Wed 8-10AM – Mysore
Wed 3-5PM – workshop: Elements of Arm Balancing
Arm balances show up throughout the Ashtanga sadhana. From the first jump back in the Sun Salutations, the opportunity to balance appears again and again. When we commit to these opportunities to deepen the work of arm balancing, we begin to also develop our confidence and mental acuity.

Thu 8-10AM – Mysore

Fee:
Full workshop: $400.

10am-12pm: Ashtanga Magic: Breath, Posture and Gaze

Delve into the secrets of the Ashtanga Yoga lineage, known as the Tristana method, and discover the magic of breath (pranayama), posture (asana) and focal point (dristhi). Break down the energetic alignment of key postures in the Ashtanga Yoga method and build the foundation for a meditative, awareness based practice. Starting off with the Sun Salutations and progressing through the Standing Postures, Kino guides you into a devotional practice that mergers the physical and subtle bodies and honors tradition while embodying the present. All levels.

2pm-4pm: Twist into Your Center

Deep twisting increases energy levels, cleanses the body and opens the mind to new levels of awareness. Find the perfect balance between activation and release in this new approach to twisting. Learn healthy technique to increase flexibility in your spine and shoulders while creating solid foundation in your pelvis. Use the core strength of the body to support the twisting and extension. You will have fun with many levels of twists and even use the twisting position to enter some challenging arm balances!

Saturday February 27, 2016

3:30pm-5:30pm: Be Strong

The yoga practice is a physical discipline with a spiritual intention. Strength in yoga is never just about getting the postures, but is instead an inner journey. By challenging your limits of what you know as possible you meet yourself at a deep level and discover hidden stores of strength. The purpose of this class is to bring you closer to the true spiritual realization of your own innate power center within. Careful emphasis on alignment, the development of the illusive bandhas, healthy breathing and firm grounding in the spiritual tradition of Ashtanga Yoga make this class a unique offering in the world. Delve into many arm balances, inversions and other key strength asanas from a technical and spiritual approach. Leave with a direct experience of what it means to truly be strong.

Sunday February 28, 2016

10am-12pm: Ashtanga Yoga Full Primary Series

Surrender to the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method with careful emphasis on the traditional vinyasa method and have fun along the journey. Experience the integrity and purity of the Ashtanga Yoga practice and be prepared to sweat.

2pm-4pm: The Path of Least Resistance:

Yoga is essentially the art of balance. In this workshop you will learn techniques that illustrate exactly how much effort you need to exert in order to see the results you want in your practice. Start off by cultivating the meditative mind and then apply that a series of asanas to change your perspective on them. Learn to do your practice with grace, effortlessness, lightness and ease. Whether you’re the proverbial over-achiever or the one who cannot find the extra-motivation to get your butt to class, this special seminar will challenge your notion of the work ethic equation. Master the dynamic between activation and release, work and effort and discover true grace.

FEE:

Single Session: $60

Full Weekend Workshop: $270

Reminder: This workshop is being held at Miami City Ballet in Miami Beach. This workshop will not be held at Miami Life Center.

Join Authorized Level 2 teacher Patrick Nolan for a six day workshop to start 2016 with good intentions. Patrick will host six days of chanting, Mysore style and workshops dedicated to Samkhya. The Darshana (world-view, or instrument of seeing the world) of Samkhya has always been closely associated with Yoga. It provides much of the ontological framework upon which Patanjali’s Yogasutra is founded. In this three part lecture we will delve into Samkhya by exploring its principle text, the Samkhya Karika of Ishvara Krishna. This elegant system of thought should appeal to skeptics and agnostics as well as to spiritually devoted yoga practitioners.

Nadi Shodana – The Workings of The Intermediate Series

In this 1 week workshop Tim takes you through a detailed, technical, intense and fun exploration of how the Intermediate Series of Ashtanga Yoga works. The potential for unlocking the spine, hips and upper body, create strength and develop a deep sense of calmness-in-action is just some of the fruits this series has to offer. Taking root in healthy anatomical patterns we will identify energetic pathways that lead to pain-free deep backbends, safe hip opening and a step-by-step method to master the arm balances. Also known as the Second Series, this group of postures challenges both flexibility and strength while teaching mastery of the nervous system through breath, aim and detachment. This immaculate series of postures offers many life lessons leading directly to Patanjali’s teachings for the interested sadhaka. Students must have a regular practice, at minimum up to Eka Pada Sirsana in order to attend.
